Winter in Toronto this year has been really cold. I mean, it’s been freezing! I learned the other day that it was the same temperature here one day as in Siberia. I also learned that it is actually warmer in Antarctica than it has been this winter. There’s only so much a girl can take! That’s one of the reasons why I’m leaving the cold behind for the tropical temperatures of the Caribbean. I hope you remember my sister, Robyn from a couple of previous blog posts because you’ll be seeing a lot more of her here – she’s coming with me! We’re traveling together for a fun girls/sisters getaway for a little over a week.

We’ll be flying into Fort Lauderdale on the morning of Friday, March 6th for an overnight trip in Florida before the cruise. I’m not sure what we’ll be up to yet, though we could go to the beach, hang out by the pool, or who knows. All I know is that we’ll be soaking up the much needed sunshine. After that, we’ll be boarding the Caribbean Princess for our cruise!

Caribbean Princess

Here’s a very rough itinerary that we have mapped out:

Saturday, March 7: Fort Lauderdale

We’ll be boarding the cruise ship that day, exploring, possibly swimming, and definitely eating a lot of delicious food. All aboard for the Caribbean!

Sunday, March 8: Princess Cays

Princess Cays is Princess Cruises’ “private island”, which is actually a southern section of Eleuthera, an island in the Bahamas. This stop is a beach day where we’ll be swimming and snorkeling.

Monday, March 9: Day at Sea

This is a day for pure relaxation on the ship. Or not. There are always lots of fun activities to do on board.

Tuesday, March 10: St. Maarten

We have a tour booked in St. Maarten with Soualiga Destinations. We will be snorkeling at Creole Rock, enjoying the beach at Pinel Island, having lunch in Grand Case, swimming at Tintemarre (a deserted island in the French Nature Reserve), swimming at Long Bay, and finally, stopping at Maho Bay to see the huge jets taking off over the beach. It sounds like a really fun tour enjoying the natural beauty of the island!

Wednesday, March 11: St. Thomas

We scheduled a shore excursion through the cruise ship. It is a half day Eco tour where we’ll be kayaking, hiking, and snorkeling. After, we might just walk around Charlotte Amalie or stop for lunch somewhere on the island.

Thursday, March 12: Grand Turk

This is the one place I’ve never visited before so I’m especially looking forward to it. We will be renting scooters and riding all over the island, stopping wherever we like. I heard there are really nice beaches in Grand Turk, and who knows what else we might come across!

Friday, March 13: Day at Sea

Saturday, March 14: Back in Fort Lauderdale

We will have to return home at some point, and we’re hoping that we bring the sunshine back with us. Toronto is due for some spring-like weather, I think!

I won’t be updating the blog while I’m away as I won’t have much Internet access on board. However, I’ll be updating my social media accounts whenever possible. Feel free to join me on my voyage around the Caribbean by following on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest!

Have you ever taken a cruise before?
